Why Trek Mount Meru?

Mount Meru offers an outstanding introduction to high-altitude trekking. Located inside Arusha National Park, the route winds through forests teeming with giraffe, buffalo, and colobus monkeys before ascending to dramatic volcanic ridges.

Day 1: Arusha National Park

Depart Arusha and spot wildlife en route to Momella Gate. Trek through montane forest to Miriakamba Hut, watching for buffalo, bushbuck, and blue monkeys.

Day 2: Saddle Hut

Climb via open glades and giant heather to Saddle Hut. Optional afternoon hike to Little Meru (3,820 m) for acclimatisation and sunset views.

Day 3: Summit Push

Begin before dawn to reach Socialist Peak (4,566 m) in time for sunrise over Kilimanjaro. Descend to Miriakamba Hut for a well-earned rest.

Day 4: Return to Momella

Descend through lush forest, spotting wildlife along the way. Transfer back to Arusha or continue directly to your safari or Kilimanjaro climb.
