Travel Advice

Getting to & Around Tanzania

From international arrivals to remote bush flights, this guide covers everything you need to know to navigate Tanzania smoothly and safely.

Your Arrival

International Flights & Visas

Your Tanzanian adventure begins with your flight. Most international travelers arrive at one of three main airports, depending on their itinerary. We recommend booking flights well in advance, especially during peak season.

Kilimanjaro (JRO)

The primary gateway for the Northern Circuit (Serengeti, Ngorongoro) and Kilimanjaro treks. Located near Arusha.

Dar es Salaam (DAR)

The main hub for the Southern Circuit (Ruaha, Nyerere) and connections to the western parks and Mafia Island.

Zanzibar (ZNZ)

Ideal if your trip starts or ends with a beach holiday on the Spice Islands. Well-connected to major hubs.

Visa Information

Most nationalities require a visa to enter Tanzania. You can obtain an e-visa online before you travel (recommended to save time) or get a visa on arrival at the airport. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from your date of entry.
